About the Keepers

This site is kept by a lore keeper who read one too many dragon-rider books and wanted the question those books keep asking — would a dragon choose me? — to have a real answer. Not a coin flip dressed up as a quiz, but a trial with teeth: ten questions, five measures, twelve original dragons, and a choosing that follows rules.

How the trial actually works

Every answer you give feeds five measures: Courage, Cunning, Loyalty, Wildness, and Stillness. Each of the twelve dragons has its own temperament across those same five measures — Thornmaw runs hot on courage and wildness, Palequill on stillness and cunning. When the trial ends, the dragon whose temperament sits closest to yours steps out of the dark. There is no random draw anywhere in the process: the same answers always summon the same dragon.

One trial is timed, because instinct is part of what a dragon reads. If you hesitate, the dragons notice — hesitation itself is scored, toward stillness and away from courage. If timed questions are a problem for you, calm mode (offered on the first trial) removes the timer entirely.

The twelve

Every dragon in the codex is an original creation, written and illustrated for this site — name, temperament, weaknesses, and the keepers' records that accompany each entry. Two of the twelve are hidden: their temperaments sit in corners of the five measures that very few riders reach. Any resemblance to dragons you have read about elsewhere is the fault of dragons, who are all somewhat alike in the ways that matter.

What this site is not

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any book, film, or game franchise. It is a fan-culture homage built from scratch: original dragons, original writing, original artwork. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and your answers never leave your browser — see the privacy policy for the full picture.
